Voter Registration Requirements

  • I am a U.S. citizen.
  • I live in the State of Alabama.
  • I will be at least 18 years of age on or before election day.
  • I can provide a physical address (this determines where you vote).
  • I am domiciled in the County in which I desire to vote.
  • I can provide a date of birth.
  • I can provide a DL# or the last 4 digits of my SSN
  • I have completed the application to vote in full and provided my signature.
  • I am not barred from voting by reason of a disqualifying felony conviction.
  • I have not been judged "mentally incompetent" in a court of law.

 

Registering and Voting in Alabama

  • Registration is not by political party.
  • Only in Primary Elections must you declare your party at the polls.
  • In the November General Election you may vote for any candidate on the ballot - you can either vote straight party ticket or a split ticket.
  • You must register to vote and make name or address changes in writing 14 days prior to an election.
  • When you move from another county or state, you must re-register.
  • You must vote at the polling place assigned to you in your precinct.
  • All polling places in Calhoun County are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on Election Day.

Under the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, the State of Alabama is required to maintain an accurate voter list. This means that you are subject to removal from the voter list if Calhoun County does not have accurate information.
