Welder/Mechanic

The Civil Service Board is accepting applications for the position of  WELDER/MECHANIC
beginning Monday, July 13th through Friday, July 31st.

JOB SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision, performs arc welding and acetylene welding on light and heavy equipment, and fabricates parts and equipment for use in the shop.  Using appropriate welding techniques repairs, rebuilds, or modifies existing equipment.  As mechanic, analyzes, diagnoses problems, and repairs transmissions, engines, differentials, and major and minor components of county equipment and vehicles.  Tows disabled equipment to shop for repairs when necessary. Transports heavy equipment throughout the county.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid Alabama commercial driver’s license class A or B with tanker, State certification as welder, two years experience as welder and mechanic, high school diploma or GED.

Pay: 1099 form ( $12.29 an hour)

Experience with Softball and Baseball fields needed! Monday-Friday usually 7am-11am Saturday hours vary on games played.

JOB SUMMARY
Perform infield maintenance, trash pick-up, and repair work of baseball/softball fields including but not limited to watering infields, repairing bases, pitching mounds, batter boxes and transition areas of infield and outfield.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
Work in this class includes sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting weights of approximately 65 lbs or less unassisted and weights over 65 lbs with assistance. Work includes both indoor and outdoor activity where employee is exposed to elements of nature: cold, hot, rain, snow, sleet, ice, etc. Employee must be able to maneuver in tight places such as the crawl space under a building, climb ladders, step over obstacles, step on and off machinery, etc. Work includes the operations of a motor vehicle. Employee may be exposed to hazardous materials.
